Dorset U12's Win at Sunny Sturminster Marshall

Sturminster Marshall GC – 15th June 2025
Dorset under 12’s got their 2025 campaign underway with their first ever match against Somerset at this level. Sturminster Marshall hosted the event on a wonderful summers day and the course was looking in great condition.
The format was 3 greensomes matches played over 18 holes. First out was the pairing of Luc Taylor and Zac Ashford. Luc was the only player in the team to have played for Dorset previously and took on the Captains armband. Zac played some great golf being encouraged all the time by Luc and the pairing soon took control of their match making the turn 3 up.
Next was Ryan Edwards and Harry Grant. The two debutants looked like they’d been playing for Dorset all their lives! Calm and controlled they finished the front nine holes 4 up.
The final match was Ihan Yoon and Tom Allen, again playing their first ever match. This game was a little closer but the boys still managed to make the turn 2up.
All the boys continued their fine form on the back nine and saw our first 2 matches win 4 & 3 and the third 2 & 1.
It was a really great day, the boys were spot on from start to finish in a format that required team work and smart decision making. Both of which they were brilliant at. With these boys now moving into the county teams the future is looking very good indeed. We look forward to the next under 12’s event on 20th August.
