Senior's Friendly Match v Hampshire.

The Dorset Seniors played their first friendly match against Hampshire on Wednesday 17th July.

The match was played on a glorious sunny day at Ashley wood golf club. The team of six players, Jane Southcombe, Val Ford, Emma Hardy, Jo Hadley and Shelley Davies won 2 matches to 1 against a formidable Hampshire team.

Senior's Friendly Match Friendly v Devon

Dorset Ladies played a friendly against Devon on Sunday 11th August.

On a beautiful sunny day at Bridport Golf club the team of 6 played a 4BBB format.

The team Jane Southcombe, Di Frieda, Amanda Walker, Loretta Christy, Sue Edwards and Shelley Davies lost 2 matches to 1 against an inform Devon team.

Captains report- South West Seniors Championship

The South West Seniors Championship was held at Torquay Golf Club on Wednesday 21st August.

The format a scratch best 3 out of 4 scores event. Representing Dorset were Jane Southcombe, Di Frieda, Shelley Davies and Sue Olds. We came a very close second losing by just one shot to a strong Gloucestershire team on a wind swept day.

A great effort in the defence of a title won by the team last year. Well done to Jane who lost on the count back for the individual title.

Captain's Reports

Seniors friendly match v Hampshire.

Our Dorset Senior team travelled to Skylark golf club to play Hampshire Senior ladies on Monday 24th September. 

The match was played on one of those unsettled windy and rainy days that we unfortunately had been experiencing a lot of this summer. 

The conditions however did not dampen the spirits of either team 

The standard of golf was high and the matches were played in a friendly competitive atmosphere. 

Skylark is a challenging parkland course with tenacious rough and a hilly back 9 . 

Hampshire eventually prevailed by winning 2 matches ( one only on the last put on 18) and halving 2 .

I was particularly proud of the way the Dorset Ladies represented their County .

Dorset  win South West Inter county Scratch Competition. 

The team of Jane Southcombe, Shelly Davies Di Freda and Jo Hadley beat all the SW counties at Launceston Golf club 23/8/23 to win the inter county scratch team competition.

The format was of 3 out of 4 scratch scores to count . 

Despite a very challenging Parkland course ,and as Di described ,really hairy greens ,the team performed brilliantly posting 

Scores of 79 80 and 81 respectively . 

These were the top 3 scores out of the whole field and as such Dorset were clear winners of a beautiful silver plate . 

Thanks go to Launceston for hosting and to Karen Rix ,the Gloucestershire President and SW Committee ,without whom the event would have not occurred.
