Captain's Report:
Yeovil Golf Club gave the 74 ladies who travelled north to play in the 2024 County Senior Ladies Championship a very warm welcome on Thursday 16th May.
Thank you to all the team at Yeovil Golf club and its members for supporting this event.
Shelly Davies from Ferndown took an early lead making the most of the early calm conditions and posting a magnificent 79 gross /73 nett.
The wind picked up through the day and this factor plus the heavy rough impacted the scoring.
Local member Tries Rideout used her course knowledge to post a fantastic nett 70. This score held the lead up until Katy Bean from Weymouth in the last but one group.
These later groups were unlucky with the weather, as very black clouds appeared over Yeovil and a tremendous downpour occurred late in the afternoon.
Katy also had to contend with a 45 minute delay before she could complete her round because the 18 th green was flooded.
Eventually the rain stopped , the sun came out and Yeovil Golf club manager Kevin Hardwill squeegeed the green.
Katy completed her round with a confident smooth putting stroke to card an excellent round of golf and a winning score of 69.
It was quite an exciting finish to the event. Unfortunately there were only a couple of spectators as the rain had washed everyone home!
